We're starting to unveil some of the new features you will find in the new Batchbook.  Take a look at some highlights from the new Contacts tab and let us know what you think.  This is still a work in progress, so there will be a few things changing but this should give you an idea of what to expect.

We're excited to get your feedback and ideas for Batchbook Contacts.  Thanks for all of your help in building a better Batchbook.

The biggest thing I would like is better contact sync with Google (Gmail) contacts... Is that in the cards? The current "sync" is unreliable, and when it works, only syncs in one direction...

    Thanks!

Wow this looks good! Looking forward to it!

In regards to the sending of emails I would like to draw attention to a couple of different solution I have come accross.

capsulecrm.com have made a somewhat simple email solution were the
user can choose a single contact or a group of receivers and when
hitting the send email button the users default email program (In my case apple mail) is populate with the chosen email address(es) + the default dropbox email for the crm. Simple and elegant, especially If I'm emailing 10 people.

www.norada.com (solve360) have may a more advanced and interesting solution were they have created a close integration with both gmail via imap + integration with Mailchimp (MC). The former is used to send out emails to single contacts or groups. This includes a very useful option for making and chosing templates with merge fields (not advanced HTML). The latter is a oneway (push) solution were all customer info (including tags(important!!), address, telephone, etc.) is pushed to MC, were-from the user segments and sends the campaigns.
www.brightpearl.com (BP) have gone about the integration with MC from a different perspective and have made a really cool integration were you are able to create, design and send a campaign via MC without ever leaving brightpearl. I think it is all done via API's and campaign stats are of course available within BP. Very cool!

That's all! Is there some sort of rhough estimate of when this new version of BP will be live? 4th quarter 2011, first or second 2012?

Please release this soon, or give us a broad timeframe, or let me try it now :)

Social is sososo important, and it would help my workflow a lot to have better social/email integration. Everything comes into a "stuff bucket," i can assign the important tweets, emails as to-dos, associate them with deals, and go on a Getting Things Done rampage!

I'd also love to be able to manage my social plate spinning with drillable reports that let me know who I need to follow-up with, show me a complete activity stream within that contact record (FB posts, RTs, mentions, DMs and emails) or deal, so that I know where we left off, with information I'm not having to manually attach every time an interaction takes place, so that I can follow-up with a "Hey what's up?" tweet and keep the deal/lead/contact warm.

Please please pleeease take a look at what companies like Nimble are doing:
    nimble.com

It leaves a lot to be desired, but after doing a trial I can't imagine slogging through various colelction buckets, going back to manually logging activities and not knowing where I left off with a contact, whether it's social media or email. A better link between tools like Sprout Social or Hootsuite and "traditional" CRMs is inevitable (Salesforce sucks!), and you could be it. I want it to be Batchbook!

Apologies for that feature vomit, this is just a huge pain point for me.

I like that we'll be getting a speed boost (easily takes up half the time of whatever it is I'm doing in BB) and having fewer clicks- I am a tab-enter master, and despise those blue loading dots...

Looking beautiful! Love the UI clean up that is going on. Looking very clean. One thing I really am looking forward to is integration with Wufoo. I know it was mentioned that its coming but I hope it does soon.

Great design! If I had I wish I would like to ease the interacting between an individual contact and a company contact. Right now I have to start with company contact information to avoit possible double entries at the individual contact page. Moreover I don't be able to change company contact information on a individuals contact page. Working regulary with you iPhone app makes it much harder for me, because there you don't have all information in one entry.

I've been a big fan of BatchBook for awhile now and have setup some of my clients on it. My biggest hope for this new iteration is a massive leap in integrations and syncing. As much as I hate to admit, I tend to use it less if it doesn't work with my other apps.

A perfect example is Google Apps. You can go without logging in BatchBook easily. You CANNOT go without logging into your email. 99% of the communication with clients comes through email and many times it's just a hassle to worry about BCCing BatchBook on everything just to update another system. Same thing goes for updating contacts in Gmail.

Over time, the 2 systems start to go in separate directions and build separate databases, which is terrible for record keeping. This is especially true when it's a small business where only 1 or 2 people manage the contact database.

There are other apps that have built tight integration into Gmail where they will literally analyze and/or download your email and bring that information into the contact card. That's the type of stuff I'm looking for and I really hope BatchBook will do something interesting here.

Great job on the rebuild so far, can't wait to see it in action! Congratulations!

Hi all - thanks so much for sharing your thoughts.  I'm glad you like the direction we are going, and definitely appreciate the additional suggestions.  I'll be sharing more on specific features (Gmail integration, social, etc. as we go).

Sorry I can not give a firm launch date, yet.  I can tell you it will probably not be this year, and that we will be sharing as much timeline information as we can when we can.  We will also be working closely with our developers groups to give as much lead time as possible for any changes that need to be made.

Thanks again for this great feedback.  We're soaking it up like sponges. :)

hi all - Love BB but it is missing one big thing that you can get for example in Zoho and others and that is email.  Would just like the system to get my emails, associate them with the correct contacts and allow me to reply.

I have built a work around using gmail but it is a touch clumsy.  Happy to pay a supplement for the added feature.

Pleased to see a speed increase but this is not a problem for me even as it is now and I am in the UK which means there is some thousands of mile of undersea fibre I am at the wrong end of!

Any news on a timeframe? Do you need beta testers?
  • NoelNoel February 20
Guys, it has been almost 7 months since you teased us with the new batchbook. I think it was a good idea to tease at first, but its becoming frustrating waiting this long to specifically update us or actually release the new batchbook. Meanwhile, we are all still dealing with the issues mentioned in these forums.
  • pamoharapamohara February 24
Thanks for the messages! I know you are all eager to get access to the new system - no one is more eager than me to get it launched!  We are working as quickly as possible with our own internal and several external teams to get it done.  We are also continuing to monitor and improve performance of the existing product, which does take resources away from the new build.   We take our responsibility to our existing customers very seriously and are taking the time to ensure that we not only build a great new product, but that we can smoothly migrate our existing customers into it.  We are opening up to more beta users shortly, so please let us know at support@batchblue.com if you would like to jump in.

I checked out the picture of the new contacts screen and it looks really promising, looking forward to the launch of BB2. I have some ideas which are missing in the current product that I hope you can take a look at for the new version:
     - Contact linked to multiple companies (This seems to be included)
     - Gmail email links should include both name and email address (currently only email address is linked when starting a gmail email from BB)
     - Contact history (similar to linkedin history or facebook timeline, where previous affiliations (start/end date) can be added, and also for specific events that have happened which are important to keep track of)
     - Possibility to annotate the extra affiliations/positions at companies, for example to make it more clear what is included in the role
     - Syncing contacts to Android phone list or making the google contacts sync bidirectional so that the contacts are available in the phone.

As said, looking forward to when you are ready with the beta and the product will be ready for the upgrade.

By directional contact sync with Google Apps is critical for this app to be usable in daily workflow. jasonbarone
above has once again identified the issue and why it is important for this functionality to work. I have never understood how other products can sync back and forth from Google Contacts yet BatchBook is unable to include that functionality. I would love to start using BatchBook again, however, having to rely on it as being the center of the universe for my contacts does not work in real life.

  • ckelsoe - agreed - but it would be nice if they actually got one-way sync with google correct

one day i edit a contact in BB and nothing happens on google side

next day i edit a contact (same one) in BB and it creates a duplicate on google side

until they get this right, I fear how badly a 2-way sync would be utterly botched by BB
