Search - it's a miserable. Does anyone have a solution?

Batchbook's search is miserable.  When you can actually trick it into working, it does a poor job of ranking results, has limited filtering and advanced options, and often misses results.  I just spent 10 minutes trying to find the last communication I sent someone at a company.  10 minutes for something that in GMail takes 10 seconds.

At once point, I wrote a crawler and started pulling down most of our contacts and communications.  But it seems silly to replicate all of the data locally to get a halfway-decent search box (isn't this what i'm paying for?).

Does anyone have a solution ?  We're most likely going to move to something better in the future, but, until we do, I'd like to be able to find things.

    Hey Drew,

I think you're going to enjoy the searching functionality in Batchbook 2.  It should be launched sometime in early 2012 (I'm still not sure what month unfortunately).  I've seen some of the functionality there, and it's going to be a lot easier to search for records using and/or with the new interface.  Also, since we are re-writing the API I'm expecting some of the search issues that happen w/ results being left out stops happening.

BUT - we're not there yet.  So, some tips on searches:
    1. You'll want to search by most general criteria first, then narrow it down as you go.
    2. Be careful with the and's & or's... "Tags is: customer" and "Tags is: High Revenue Customer" and "Lead status is: Hot" or "Lead status is: Warm" will bring in a list of all contacts tagged customer, high revenue customer, and lead status is Hot.  It will also bring in the contacts where Lead Status is Warm.
    3. We can re-index your account if you have results that aren't showing up that should.  Please just press the "Contact Support" button over in the menu on the right side of this page.
The take home is, you shouldn't have to ask a community of folks for tips and tricks on how to get a search functionality to work.  We realize it's not that awesome right now, and we're hard at work on fixing it.

If there are any specific issues that come up, please let us know by contacting support.  We'll do everything we can to make sure you're able to get the information you need out of Batchbook when you need it.

I'm in the same position - I have even been trying to get data via Easy-Insight. That works. How come Batchbook does not make it work so that I do not have to go elsewhere and pay another 30 bucks a month for the privalege. Makes it all to easy to jump ship to a rather more expensive CRM that manages all of this. Is that my issue? Maybe I am just not playing in the right league.
